Workshop is beginning!  I see three drafts in the dropbox–expecting the fourth this morning at the latest.

By Monday afternoon or evening, everyone needs to have written a brief response to the draft.  It does not have to be long–maybe a page or slightly less than a page.  You do not have to write full sentences; point form will do.  But just make sure your communication is clear.

Follow this template:

1.  Summarize the argument of the draft in a sentence or two.

2.  State what you think works well about the paper.

3.  Write a sentence or two evaluating the kind of evidence and argument the paper offers; is the paper effective in its argumentation?

4.  What suggestions do you have for improving the paper?

5.  Do you have suggestions for further reading/ resources?  If you have pdfs of readings handy, feel free to upload them into the workshop folder.

I am sorry about asking this question. I know that you explained the answer to this question in class. It’s just that Dropbox has a noticeable amount of features. To follow the instructions of the template and make comments on our classmates’ profile, do we click the ‘Sharing’ Tab and then click on the ‘Share’ tab which is to the right of the name of the classmate’s folder? Thank you!

Hi John Paul, No, the “Sharing” Tab would be used to send a link to the folder to someone else. It’s not something we need to use. You should write your response to the paper in a Word document, save it, and then upload it to the folder.

If you are using DropBox in a web browser here are the directions you should follow.
Click on the folder the contains the paper you are responding to.
Then near the top of the screen, on the right, you will see a set of icons.
Click on the icon that looks like a piece of paper with a plus sign on it.
A popup window will appear and you can follow the directions given to upload your comments document.

    Hope that helps!

And folks–you need to provide more than a quick comment in the Dropbox. This is a full WORKSHOP and PEER REVIEW. A sentence or two will not do! You need to summarize the argument, offer full suggestions for improvement, etc etc. I am seeing responses in the Dropbox that are FAR too brief and perfunctory. Effort, please. Carrie

Go through the template above and give at least one or two point form responses to each! CH

Thank you, Dr. Hintz and Kat, for your responses!

Your comments are quite comprehensive, John Paul…you were not one of the people whose comments were too brief…just to be clear!

I am sure that folks who only wrote a few sentences will take some time to add to their responses before Tues
